12 years ago, began the coloroso journey to unravel this simple yet age defying story of the indian woman and the aesthetics that define her. Coloroso is that innocent peek into her mind, spun with threads of heirloom silk, into these spirited women’s lives.
We have walked this road, with her, her kohl laden eyes, hair knotted loosely in a bun, chappals of weatherworn leather and muted silver eardrops that catch the dusk gently. Let us take you through these meandering lanes of banaras and its generational house of Sari weavers, through tiny dirt roads leading to a maze-like universe, steeped in a history of luxury, handmade heritage and soul cleansing spirituality.
In 2025 we are proudly celebrating our tryst with this ancient town…and we want you to join us in this revival of handwoven art.
This our ode to you. You my ladies, who has inspired us to craft this unique blend of curated culture across bold and modern drapes. Spun in our finest silks, woven with love and minute attention paid to each legacy motif, every single layered element of these opulent weaves stand testament to the lives of such beautiful women, creating a memory for you, like no other.
OUR STORY
TANA ~ BANA AT COLOROSO
The story of an ordinary indian woman is perhaps the most extraodrinary one. She weaves her own tale through time and embodies some of the finest contradictions that are time tested. Much like the banaras we weave here in our looms at coloroso.
She is understated, she is bold, she is vivacious, she is subtle, she is effervescent she is divine.
She stands tall among her peers, in both conviction and contemporary class… she stands uniquely rooted in tradition, gently sharing one heirloom story at a time with her children, grand children and kin in tiny whispers of wisdom. Handed down generation upon generation, weave after weave, fabric layering fabric …
Like those well preserved moments of her milestones and tribulations, from her first job, her first romance… her first undercooked curry, her wedding night, her childbirth pangs, her forays into making householder’s wealth, her best biryani, the birth of her second grandchild, the loss of a loved one
…stories that tumble out from her soul, like a trunk full of antiques… finding a partner in each crime, her handwoven, handpicked preloved collection of the best banarasis. These Saris have seen this little girl turn into a woman.
